September’s #BRUNCHCLUB was held at the lovely Ampersand Eatery in Orakei. It was a perfect spring day, and we were seated outside on the deck with a beautiful view across Hobson Bay back towards the city. I had talked up how good Ampersand was to our group, and I’m pleased they delivered on my acclaim, with great food, coffee, and service as always.

Ampersand has an industrial feel that comes from it’s history as a gin distillery dating back to the 1950s. It’s been modernised with a big neon &, light wooden shelving and a big pink bar. There’s plenty of greenery to add some light to the space as well as dividing the seating areas.

The coffee is by Espresso Workshop and roasted on site. I highly recommend the single origin tasting platter, as you get to try it brewed three different ways.

Attending this month were the following bloggers – it was lovely to welcome some new faces along, as well as catch up with old friends.

Service at Ampersand was second to none – we were so well looked after, and this has been the case on every visit I’ve made there. One of the owners and executive chef is frequently on the floor, so he’s in touch with what customers want and are enjoying.

We were treated to mini versions of their Chia Pudding for dessert, and I definitely want to go back and order the full size. So light and sweet, yet not too sickly to have at breakfast time!
