September’s #BRUNCHCLUB was held at the lovely Ampersand Eatery in Orakei. It was a perfect spring day, and we were seated outside on the deck with a beautiful view across Hobson Bay back towards the city. I had talked up how good Ampersand was to our group, and I’m pleased they delivered on my acclaim, with great food, coffee, and service as always.
Ampersand has an industrial feel that comes from it’s history as a gin distillery dating back to the 1950s. It’s been modernised with a big neon &, light wooden shelving and a big pink bar. There’s plenty of greenery to add some light to the space as well as dividing the seating areas.
The coffee is by Espresso Workshop and roasted on site. I highly recommend the single origin tasting platter, as you get to try it brewed three different ways.

Today I had brunch with @lifewithlaura.nz at @ampersand_eatery. It was absolutely fantastic. We both had avocado on sourdough toast, with kimchi and a poached egg. So tasty and flavourful. The service was top notch, we even were brought our meals by the executive chef & co owner. We shared a single origin tasting, which was an espresso, piccolo, & v60 pour over. A fun way to try one coffee three ways, and it’s given me lots of energy to do my spring cleaning. I’m so looking forward to coming back here in a couple of weeks for @nzbloggers brunch club. We still have a couple of tickets available for check out the link in their bio. #nzbloggers #brunchclubnz

Service at Ampersand was second to none – we were so well looked after, and this has been the case on every visit I’ve made there. One of the owners and executive chef is frequently on the floor, so he’s in touch with what customers want and are enjoying.

Lovely #brunchclub today with @nzbloggers. I ordered the smoked fish crepe with spinach potato and parmesan because I saw someone on Insta claim it was "too cheesy". 😂 It was like eating the richest smoked fish pie filling you can imagine. Dreamy 😍 . . . #aucklandeats #brunch #breakfast #foodstagram #instafood #foodporn #yum #crepes #forkyeah #nzbloggers #bloggerswhobrunch #nzeats #nzfood #smokedfish #orakei #auckland
We were treated to mini versions of their Chia Pudding for dessert, and I definitely want to go back and order the full size. So light and sweet, yet not too sickly to have at breakfast time!
Thanks to everyone for coming along, and most of all thank you to the amazing staff at Ampersand!
