This Sunday the incredibly wonderful Georgina from BabyRebelBlog took over the #NZBloggers chat to get us talking about Personal Style and how this relates to our blogging. I’m going to be honest here, this was a very new topic for me, but luckily there were a bunch of amazing people who took part and shared their ideas.

First off we talked about how we defined personal style, and it was super interesting to read all of the different responses.

What stood out amongst the array of different answers was the personal style is created by YOU. It’s not defined by outside parameters but by the way you carry yourself and interact with the world around you. Being confident in yourself and what you like to wear seems to be the magic ingredient.

Next up Georgina got everyone to discuss how they would define their own style and how this comes through in your blog.

As you would expect, this everyone had a pretty unique answer (we are all pretty different after all). It does seem like having a blog encourages bloggers to develop their personal style more and helps with trying to figure out how to describe it. Some of us are still working on this whole thing though (and that’s totally cool and okay. I hope).

There were definitely some common struggles that came up when talking about defining one’s personal style, but everyone’s situation was a little different. The pressure to keep up with the latest trends seemed to be one that some people found more important than others. A lot of people had a personal style defined by what they like to wear, not by what’s on the catwalk.

People found inspiration for their personal style in a wide range of forms! From fellow bloggers to TV Shows we all have our sources.

I think one thing we almost all mentioned was Pinterest, ’cause we all use it and we all seem to love it (and spend hours of otherwise productive time pinning beautiful people to our boards).

We rounded off a fantastic discussion by sharing a few of our favourite bloggers, who have a clear personal style that shines through in our interactions with them (be it in person or online).

Thanks so much to Georgina for hosting such an interesting and inspiring chat! Make sure you tune in on Sunday’s at 8pm for our #NZBloggers weekly chat over on twitter (@NZBloggers) and let us know if you are interesting in getting involved with hosting a topic of your own.

How do you define your personal style?

Have an amazing week and bring on Winter with its tall boots, long scarves and oxblood nails. I am getting pretty excited.
